Silverman 2007

This is the start of the run. People have asked me what is Silverman is it the same as Ironman? Of course not. Ironman is for triathletes who wear skirts. Silverman is a true test of endurance and speed. The Silverman course is much more difficult than the Ironman courses. The distances 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run are the same but the bike leg of Silverman has 8,000 feet of climbing and 1,000 net feet of climb, and the run is on a hilly course too. Ironman is a brand name that is trying to dominate and eliminate independently produced races such as the Silverman. The athlete in the Silverman race is treated much better than in the Ironman races. If you would like a fun time sign up now at silvermannv.com. There is also a half distance Silverman race for those who would like something a little more manageable.

global warming?

The answers to the global warming quiz were given correctly by Al. While we are fast approaching a temperate peak as it has been about 100,000 years since the last temperate peak give or take 5 thousand years or so. Either way the point is this is a loooong cycle. We have not yet reached the peak temperatures of the last peak nor have we reached the peak CO2 levels of the last peak. who was burning the fossil fuel 100,000 years ago?

GLOBAL WARMING QUIZ

What is the most common "greenhouse" gas?

What percent does CO2 contribute to the "greenhouse" effect?

Cool (glaciers covering significant portions of North America) to temperate (glaciers retreat to high mountains) and back to cool cycles are how long?

Have CO2 levels and temperature levels fluctuated at about the same amplitude for the last 600,000 years during the cool--temperate--cool cycles?

Is it possible that the cool--temperate--cool cycle is related to the earth's orbit and orientation with regard to the sun?

Are we currently in a temperate, cool or in between cycle?

What is global warming?

Mark 10: 29-31

29: And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,
30: But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.
31: But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.

Surfing in Newport II

Here are some of the sweet pictures than anna rasmussen photographers took in Newport. They are expensive but they are sure worth it. I highly recommend anna rasmussen photographers for all your action shot needs. I plan on getting them to cover the 2007 silverman.

Surfing in Newport

Sorry no pictures. My photographer was not prepared and refuses to cooperate so that I could upload all the narly surfing pictures. I have put this picture from the 2006 Silverman. I did try wearing this wetsuit for surfing but it is very slippery and I had to take it off so that I could stay on my board.
